Melissa graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt with her MA in Social Work which led her towards the clinical path. While studying alongside of Indigenous elders of the many tribes throughout Humboldt County, Melissa cultivated a deep understanding and respect for the BIPOC community. Melissa weaves this experience into all of her therapeutic interventions and interactions in addition to embracing an ecological perspective on how each person has evolved into their current state.

As a veteran social worker of almost 20 years, Melissa has had the honor and privilege to serve a variety of populations ranging from residents of government funded housing complexes to public schools and residential treatment centers. Melissa is trained in EMDR, DBT, and Narrative Therapy. She integrates whatever modality feels appropriate for what the client needs and works collaboratively towards treatment goals. Melissa has a deep-seated passion for helping people of all ages and gender-orientations address past traumas that continue to affect one’s health and well-being.

When Melissa is not in session, you will find her hiking through the redwoods, tending to her garden, or (play) wrestling with her Chihuahua.
