My name is Juana Soto and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with individuals who are in need of support as they navigate the varied complexities and challenges of life, specifically, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy rooted in humanistic traditions and use a creative and integrative approach to best meet my clients in their unique circumstances.

My work experience at different levels of care (inpatient, residential, and community-based mental health) has given me the opportunity to aid individuals struggling with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, poor body image, and other mental health challenges. I’m open to working with anyone who is looking to embark on a journey of exploration and understanding of their lived-experiences.

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently utilize Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Integrative Therapy with an assortment of approaches and tools to individualize treatment. This approach assists me in taking the whole person’s lived context into consideration, including social, cultural, economic, and systemic, allowing us to work towards a path of healing.

My approach to goal setting with clients consists of working and collaborating together to identify what the client wants to accomplish during our time together. This usually begins by building trust and rapport between us and getting comfortable within our therapeutic sessions to identify goals and track progress.

What you can expect in our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about what has encouraged you to start therapy and me asking questions to better understand your current emotional state. The initial session is about building a connection and helping me determine where we will start working together.
