Alene’s path to clinical social work began with a MA in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College. Alene went on to become an Episcopal Priest and began providing religious services to teens and young adults in the Department of Juvenile Justice. Because of that experience of walking alongside traumatized youth, Alene decided to pursue an MSW from Simmons University. Alene continues to explore and seek new means of bringing healing to the wounds caused by trauma and abandonment–particularly the trauma that has often occurred for LGBTQIA+ people in conjunction with their family or religion of origin.
As a social worker, Alene has had the joy of partnering with a wide variety of individuals on their path to greater healing and wholeness through working in a domestic violence shelter, a public defender’s office, an adult day health care center, and an adolescent residential treatment/crisis center. Alene is trained in DBT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems and integrates these modalities as appropriate while working collaboratively with the client to meet their goals.
When not in session, Alene enjoys playing handbells or other musical instruments, relaxing at home with family, or traveling to new places.
